1. Engineering Challenge & Facility Requirements

Industrial metal 3D printing systems, powder metallurgy bays, and high-temperature sintering furnaces require massive 480V 3-phase power density, strict voltage stability, and flexible overhead feeder distribution capable of adapting as R&D cells evolve. Desktop Metal needed a heavy-industrial electrical contractor in Burlington capable of rigging a new 1,200-Amp service and routing dozens of parallel feeder and branch conduits across high-bay ceilings with architectural precision.

2. Electrical Dynamics Technical Execution

Electrical Dynamics engineered and installed a 1,200-Amp, 480Y/277V 3-phase main switchgear lineup coupled with laser-aligned, multi-tier overhead trapeze conduit racks. Using pre-planned 3D spatial routing, our journeyman electricians fabricated symmetrical parallel EMT and rigid conduit sweeps feeding step-down transformers, sub-distribution panels, and dedicated machine disconnects throughout Building 2 and the R&D laboratories.

3. Verified Project Outcomes

  • Energized the 1,200A 480V switchgear lineup on schedule following Eversource coordination and Burlington Wire Inspector sign-off.
  • Constructed exhibition-grade overhead conduit pipe racks providing clean access and future expansion capacity for additive manufacturing cells.
  • Zero safety incidents and zero rework across all high-amperage furnace and compressor drops.
