Case Study: Sekisui Voltek High-Amperage Industrial Busduct Replacement & Phased Plant Cutover
1. Engineering Challenge & Facility Requirements
Sekisui Voltek’s Lawrence manufacturing plant relies on high-amperage 480V overhead busduct to power continuous cross-linked polyolefin foam extrusion and irradiation lines. Replacing aging overhead busway sections inside an active industrial plant required surgical pre-engineering so production downtime was kept to an absolute minimum.
2. Electrical Dynamics Technical Execution
Electrical Dynamics performed detailed field laser measurements, pre-staged all custom busduct sections, hanger supports, and fusible bus plugs, and executed the demolition and replacement during a tightly choreographed plant outage window. Following re-energization, our Eaton-certified technicians conducted calibrated torque verification and baseline FLIR infrared thermographic scanning under load.
3. Verified Project Outcomes
- Restored full 480V plant distribution capacity within the scheduled maintenance window with zero production overruns.
- Eliminated high-resistance busbar joint heating and arc-flash risk.
